Frontline Frequently Asked Questions

I have used Frontline Plus on my dog and yet I still see evidence of fleas in my home. Why aren't they gone?

The fleas that you see in your carpet or other parts of your home were probably hatched from eggs that were laid prior to the Frontline usage. If you are persistent in using Frontline on your pet, you will break the life cycle of the fleas.

My dog is pregnant, can I stil use Frontline on her?

Yes, Frontline is safe to use on pregnant or lactating dogs.

Is it safe to give my dog a bath or let him play in the water after I've applied Frontline?

Yes, Frontline is completely water proof for up to 30 days. It will remain in your pets fur even after they get wet, as long as you wait 48 hours after application, so that it has a chance to set. Once that happens your dog can swim or have a bath and you won't have to worry about the Frontline.

Can I use Frontline any time of the year?

Yes, but most people use it in the spring, when the flea season is really heating up. The best time to use it is probably just before it really warms up, because that way you will stop the worst of it before it has a chance to begin. If you live in a fairly warm climate you will probably want to use it on a regular basis. To be absolutely sure that your pet has continuous protection use Frontline on a monthly basis.

Why should I choose Frontline over some of the other flea and tick medications?

Different products do different things and have varying degrees of success. Unlike some of the products, Frontline not only kills the adult fleas on your pet, it also kills the eggs that have been hatched, breaking the life cycle of the fleas. It also has full protection against 4 different kinds of ticks, including the kind that can spread lyme disease.

I 've used  Frontline Plus on my dog and I see fleas hoping around all over him, why didn't it work?

That is actually a very good sign, because it shows tha the Frontline is working. One of the key ingredients is Fipronil, which hyperstinulates fleas just before it kills them. Frontline needs as many as 18 hours to kill all the fleas, and up to 48 hours to kill the ticks.

At what age can I start my puppy on Frontline? What age for my cat?

Cats and kittens can use Frontline. It is safe for puppies older than 8 weeks of age.

Do you know of any side effects for Frontline?

Some pet owner's have reported minor skin irritation in the place of application. Others have claimed that their pet is allergic to the active ingrediant in Frontine, which is Fipronil. When using for the first time, it is best to test the medication out slowly, in a small area to see how your pet reacts.
