How Does Frontline Work?

Frontline and Frontline Plus will kill 98% to 100% of the fleas on your pet within the first 24 hours, and most ticks in 48 hours.  It will also provide ongoing protection. How does it doe this?

You apply it betwen your pets shoulders and the Fipronil, the active ingredient, dissolves into the oils of the skin and coat. From there, it will spread out over your pet's entire body. It is stored in the oil glands, under the skin. It reapplies itself to the skin and hair by way of the hair follicles. This allows it to be released slowly, over time. It also allows it to be water proof, so your pet can be washed, or play in the water.


Another important Frontline feature is the fact that it will continue to keep your pet flea and tick free. It does this by not only killing the adult pests that are bothering your cat or dog, it also kills the eggs and larvae they have hatched, thereby breaking the life-cycle. Each application is good for one month, so if you keep applying monthly, you should see continuous converage.
