How Fleas Can Infest Your Home
As we mentioned elsewhere on the site, the best way to get rid of fleas and ticks is to prevent them from appearing in the first place by using Frontline for dogs and Frontline for cats. The reality, though, is that sometimes these pests can appear before you even know there is a problem, and once you have them, it really IS a problem.
It's important to understand that fleas and ticks can affect not only your cat or dog, they can affect your home and everyone who lives there. It is possible to to treat your pets with a product like Frontline flea control, have it work they way it is supposed to, and yet still have a house full of fleas and ticks. How is this possible?
It all has to do with the life-cycle of the fleas. Fleas commonly lay their eggs on rugs and carpets. The females can lay as many as 50 eggs each day. These eggs are deposited on the carpet, on furniture upholstery, anywhere they can be protected. These fleas are hatched, begin to grow, and soon you have a full-blown flea infestion in your home. If you have already treated your pet with a flea killer you naturally make the assumption that this will not happen. They key is that the original eggs were laid before the treatment was given. Which brings us back to the idea of prevention, and the importance or making sure you don't let a gap appear in your regular treatments.
